Best Non-Equity 80C Investment other than PPF

#1
I think PPF is the best thing to plonk your 80C in. But this year for some reasons, I don't want to. What do others think the best 80C investment is other than PPF. I don't want to do equity stuff.

How late

Thank you. How late can I go for an FD as 80C? If I am doing it online from Bank's website, will doing it on 30th or 31st of March be still eligible? Or should I keep some buffer? Any idea?

I am not sure but I think you will be eligible as long as the FD receipt has an opening date in the same financial year.

If you apply on 31st March and the bank processes the FD request on next working day, you may not be eligible for the deduction.

To be on the safer side, apply 7-10 days in advance.

Be aware of lock in period

Just a caution- Be aware that there is lock in period of 5 years for the tax saving FD. Also be sure you get the FD certificate in your hand before 31st Mar..banks are crazy during year ending period
Also KVP has been restarted..that's other option.

Is there any benefit to a KVP as compared to a tax saving FD?
