You are right...

Sentiment affects all...

When markets were going up, everyone was happy.

Everyone was ready with tips and advice.

Today, not many want to talk about stocks.

====================================

Both the number of posts and the number of visitors, go down when markets go into a bear phase.

I think participation is still healthy! Until we have you alchemist! no need to worry! Small is beautiful and more meaningful. It is also easy to take care!

u r right....
there is less interest in the markets...however, if I had lot of money[i mean surplus money], I would have still been very active in day-trading...
I believe this is the best time for day-traders as there is a lot of volatility in the prices!!

Still, I regularly visit the forum to read all the informative and knowledgeable stuff we get here..

Despite all the cautions from Alchem, I have been doing all the mistakes that Alchem warned about--1. Rel power an 2. spending all my money in each small fall!! :( ...now, I dont hv capital to capitalize on the opportunity !!

On Lighter vein, we can know market bottom is formed, if particpation goes to 0.

That will also signal that situation mentioned as per Dow Theory of Depression and despair has been met!

But we won't go away will we :D? I've decided to book profits this Monday in whichever shares have given me more than 10% absolute returns since Jan '08.

No time away from work, to read this Forum. One of my holdings 10+ years old has split and some daughter stock mus thave been added to my demat account. Learned about it from Alchemist one year back only. Still haven't checked my account on that.

Account locked because of some vague reason.

This Forum is good, though. Like it!

Alchemsit, is it possible for you to generate some stats/graphs on forum visits/comments/participation during the last 10+ years.

Was there a spike before/during/after the crashes and what was the participation level during bottoms ?

Not absolute numbers but percentage would do.

Another big reason even in bull run the participation is low bcoz is SEBI's order.

In my opinion everyone here in this good forum are small traders and investors and are friendly nature, who will do their job and also makes investments and tradings. It is not possible for them to register with SEBI and then only gets eligibility to talk about any particular stock.

I'm new to this forum. It really hurts if people are not active. Stay motivated. It is a very good practice to share knowledge. It helps to gain recognition and helps to grow.
