I think it is time to get some feedback from the users of this site.

I need to know what exactly you wish to have on this site.

I am aware that I am not able to reply to all posts on this forum. I too feel bad about it. I have time constraints and am currently trying to find people who can reply to queries.

================================================

So tell me..... what more you want from this site?

You can suggest anything that comes to your mind.... anything that you think will be helpful to you.

(related to investments only... please don't ask for movie reviews and mp3 downloads...:D..)

also if you are going to tell how great this site is....please don't post in this thread...:p.

I am only looking for suggestions on what is needed...thanks.

I feel you are doing great job and i see some more areas you should look forward.
1. Try to give some regular recommendations - with backup or anlaysis - daily or weekly recommendations will be great.
2. You are right - u cannot reply to all - so leave it to others in this forum - and jump in only if you do not agree with their replies- so as to avoid spreading of wrong words.
3. We all are interested in making money - in short time and we all are small investors - so lets limit our stocks and discussions - to low profile. Midcaps - or small caps.
4. Let's make a motto of making each and every individual in this forum richer than what he was before and let us all take up that responsibility. Everyone in this forum should contribute in sharing their experience and study about the market

Regards

I would like you to explain your philosophy for stock evaluation.

Being new to stock market, I need to rely on Online researches for evaluations. I would find it very useful if you post exactly
1. How you pick stocks,
2. How you evaluate them,
3. how to decide whether a stock is costly,
4. How to decide the term to remain invested

And, the exact mathematical method to calculate fundamentals. I tried to learn the Warren Buffet method, but failed.:p

And..... well, the list is endless, but these would be good to start with.:D

Want to know how to pick a stock.

Hi Alchemist,

It is rightly put up here in previous posts.
We being very new to this field of share market, want to know how to pick particular stock?
Looking at such a big data base of companies, how to know which company I can go for?

Dear Alchemist,

I second vimalkkumar. This forum is really good for discussing IPOs. But one must know that when bears enter the markets, then secondary markets are the only available option and no new company dares to enters market through IPO.

So, my suggestion to you is to focus on secondary market with frequent tips and analysis. As this only remains an option in bear run.

Also, can we discuss about Free Analytical Softwares available on Web. I really don't know any.

One more thing, You can start a thread in which one can discuss Investment Courses or Know-How courses. Just like NCFM of NSE. One of my friends told me that their are many Brokerage Houses conducting such programs.

What do you say dear AlchemistJi?

I feel that most of us becomes members of this site to see the Grey market premium and subsciption status of particular IPO and most of us was beginner. But now we are able to understand the things and share market is become subject matter of our discussion My suggestion is that

1) Regular tips & Discussion of Secondery market should be added
2) Short time Tips ( RPL & RNRL increase 3 time in 2 months and the same was told by various operators to their clients) should also be given.
3) General questions answer to be given by other members not by alchemist so that you can give valuable suggestions.

Friends,

As many of you wanted short-term trading picks, I thought I should do something about it.

I do not consider myself an expert short-term trader.

Thus, I have invited Rajiv Khatlawala to contribute with his picks. Rajiv is a friend and guru for me. I have both learnt and benefited a lot from his expertise.

Every week, Rajiv will be sharing one of his short-term picks with us. (Short-term would mean 4-6 week holding period).

I hope you guys will benefit from his picks too. :).

Daily Digest on e-mail

I suggest that there could be an option to member, to subscribe to daily digest on e-mail.
This digest could have
All new posts of the day;
Summery of all activities of the day. etc.

Another suggestion is that Alchemist could assign grade to all the members depending on their past performance and quality of post and could keep on reveiwing the same on constant basis.
Thus when anybody read post (comment, reccomendation etc.), one can understand depth of the person posting the message by looking to the grade.

Best of luck for the reform.

A daily digest will be difficult to implement.

currently the forum is not really that big, but once it grows, it won't be possible to send so many emails from the site's servers.

Yahoo groups and moneycontrol.com have very powerful, multi-servers sites...thus they can afford to send thousands of emails per day.

It is usually not possible for smaller sites to send daily emails to all its members.

================================================

The site already has a grading system in place and it is called the reputation system.

Currently as not much reputation has been spread, it is not showing for individual users. As the forum grows, more green blobs will show for members with higher reputation.

Another idea I can think of is, you use color coding depending on the status of the member in the system.

I can see different members have different status on the site, like you are an administrator, there are some senior members etc. you can use different colors to represent their messages. It will make the site look more attractive as well as people reading the message can guess the reliability.

I second rookie here. I think this will be a great learning information to have on the site.

Do not allow tips

In my opinions, you should not allow guest contributors to post unexplained short term or long term tips like Rajiv K's does.
For eg.
http://www.e-investing.in/showthread.php?t=1180

Does he give any reason as to why to buy this?
Is the stock undervalued? Does it have a low P/E etc? The company is
in line for a new contract. The change in govt policy will help this company etc.

Otherwise, people can buy a stock & then give a tip regarding the same stock & wait for others to buy it.

Regular members can give unexplained tips - not everybody is going to believe them - but if you are going to introduce guest contributors who you endorse, then they should explain any tip they give.

Rajiv is a technical analyst and does not look into fundamentals of any company.

All his picks are based on technicals. I invited him to the forum because I think he is good at it.

I really don't think any technical analyst would like to share how exactly he picks stocks.

==============================================

It is entirely upto a member to follow advice of other members/invitees.

Posting a buy call is very easy. Everyone becomes an expert in a bull market.

An investor should not follow anyone's advice blindly.

I have also mentioned the same in the Rules & Guidelines section.

I wish it would be much more better if the site has some Knowledge base of the market. Likely to say the usage of the terms, & the jargons used in general etc. which will helpful for reference if any newbie misses out whats actually we are talking about. More over this will attract more user base.

One more thing I noticed in general market portals discussion is about the online & offline Brokers like Geojit, Sharekhan, Motilal etc. It would be better if we have provided with a one time analysis base of what are the basic charges & trading charges along with listing out the positives & negatives. Ofcourse I see majority of these brokers are changing their charges very frequently to attract customers but informationally they will provide only one set of charges either max or min. So we have to list those details, so that new players can make a choice choosing them.
