That's the problem of being a fully developed economy.

Once an economy is fully mature there isn't much need for more consumption or investments, so printing more money does not lead to increase in consumption or investments.

That's why Krugman is so very insistent that the US government increases its spending to kick-start the economy. According to him, that's the only way money can start moving in the economy.
How does US kickstart its economy ?

And how does US kick start its economy by spending more money ? The major manufacturing industries in USA are all arms/ammunitiions/weapons based companies..and "history" has shown time and again that US "initiates" war (sometimes needlessly) in various countries and this "kick starts" their economy/govt spending.
