User Experience for Indian Mobile Handsets

#1
Has anyone used mobile handsets marketed by Indian companies (Micromax, Spice etc.)?

I am not interested in the really cheap ones (less than Rs 3000). After all there is not much to expect from such phones.

How do the Rs 5000+ phones from such players compare with established players like Samsung, LG and the likes?

All these phones Lava, Micromax, Karbon and the lot are Chinese phones, I had imported 25000 such handsets from China, dual sim, touch phones, with 1.3 mega pixel camera, etc for a price of 750 bucks, sold them all to a Ahmedabad party for 1150/-, these phones last for a year or so and are off poor quality, the Ahmedabad party branded it in his own name and sold it for around 2500, I believe this Lava, Micromax are similar stuff, can't say that about LG or Samsung.

The software on these phones is very unstable, suddenly your message box, your contact numbers may vanish, they may pop up after some time, you may not receive some SMS, battery is of poor quality, you will have to recharge it every day, if you are heavy user then maybe after every call .

Thanks for the inputs Marketmover.

My inquiry is merely out of curiosity. I am not in danger of purchasing such a phone.

By the way, I did some quick math on the figures you mentioned. Hats off to you sir. Maybe you should start a site to teach us how do do business :D.

I myself had used Videocon handset and my wife used Spice and now she is using Micromax.

All the phones are very good. The software has no problems but you can say not very user friendly (e.g., you cannot import contacts from other mobile very easily since you do not have pc-suite or you can not select more than 10 contacts to send a SMS at a time like we can do on our Nokia / Samsung handset), otherwise it was very good.

One should be careful about the SAR rate of the mobile.

I personally believe in only buying electronics which are allowed to be sold in USA.

A profit of (25k X (1150 -750)) One crore, what are you doing in stock market?

You haven't calculated the amount the guy in Ahmedabad made, he is also heavily into the stock market. Well all of the one crore does not come into my pocket, there are five more guys sharing the moolah, along with me. forget to add 6 months in year we sit in the office doing nothing

How come you passed customs/excise etc ?
25000 * 750 = 1,87,50,000.
25000 * 1150 = 2,87,50,000.

Profit= 1 crore :captain:.

Shared among 5 guys = 25 lakh each in one deal.

You have any import agency/ office?

Oh my god, you are Richie Rich of the forum.

Marketmover you rock. You should really open a trading business forum and give people training.(Sorry Alchemist).

I am using a Micromax G+C dual SIM which cost around 300. Very stable. Good network. Awesome battery. It does not have features though has a very poor VGA camera, has a poor media player. But a solid phone if I ever saw one.
